JANUARY WORSHIP AT WOODBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
JANUARY 4 THE SECOND SUNDAY OF CHRISTMAS
We will celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper as the conclusion to the traditional Wesley Covenant Service. The sermon “Mrs. Kelly and the Christmas bulletin” will be based on Isaiah 60:1-6 and Matthew 2:1-12. We will receive Woodbury Food Bank donations and gifts to the pastor’s discretionary fund. Our liturgist and communion assistant will be Carol Galloway. After worship, free blood pressure screenings will be offered in the Assembly Room by Michael Pinevich, LPN. Fellowship Time will be a light luncheon hosted by Pastor Brian and Carol where we will discuss the book Christmas Jar, which has been circulating among those interested throughout 2025. All are welcome to the luncheon.
JANUARY 11 BAPTISM OF THE LORD
The sermon “God Plays No Favorites” will be based on Matthew 3:13-17 and Acts 10:34-43. We will install our church officers for 2026. Our liturgist will be Sandy Purdy.
JANUARY 18 HUMAN RELATIONS DAY
The scriptures of Psalm 40:1-11, Isaiah 49:1-7 and John 1:29-42 will be the basis of the message “Moonbeam Clock.” Our liturgist will be Jon Ossewaarde and our “Testimony” presenter will be announced. We will receive the special United Methodist denominational offering for Human Relations Day.
JANUARY 25 THE THIRD SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
The message, “Grace to Go Fishing,” is excerpted from a story by the Rev. Neil Parker. Rev. Parker is a military chaplain and Chapel Life Coordinator at Canadian Forces Base Comox, British Columbia. The text will be Matthew 4:12-23 and 8:23-27. Our liturgist will be Molly Bodwell.
Advance reading of the scriptures is an act of spiritual formation.
